Quality pool construction

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Time frame: I was told my very small pool would take 6-8 months to build. It is now 8 months since I signed my contract and Im still waiting for my pool to be finished.

Poor customer service: The communication in this company is nil.

My phone calls, text messages and emails are RARELY returned.

Downtime: I have built 4 pools 2 larger than this one. The scheduling of crews is completely inadequate. My pool has sat for a month at a time with no one working on it. There was no communication as to why either.

To date my pool has sat for over 4 months off and on with no activity whatsoever! The two times I did get a response I was told they did not have enough crews hired to complete the work! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!

Property Damage: my fence has been damaged. The irrigation both front and back has been destroyed including the valves.

When I asked about Shasta repairing this I was told that since I did not buy a landscape package I would have to do this on my own. I was not the one who damaged the system! The workers also destroyed my hose and hose bib in the back. The heavy equipment also ran over and destroyed the main water valve to my neighbors property even though the path around it was clearly marked.

Still I am not being heard!

Poor management of construction debris: I live in a HOA ( who doesnt) and it took me forever to get Shasta to send out a cleanup crew. My neighbor who is also putting in a pool has had her construction debris cleaned up as they went along. On a side note that pool was started two months ago and has already caught up to mine! She will be in her pool before I will, Im sure!

In conclusion I am extremely unhappy with the his company that boasts they are the number one pool builder in Arizona!

That has got to be a JOKE! The company sure is and I would never recommend this company to anyone, ever!

The company is just a rip-off. Their customer service is so horrible.

Their job took one year to complete, they also plastered their stupid logos without my consent. They owe me a refund because they were disbursed my money without my approval. No one can answer a phone call, reply to an email, and it's impossible to find the real leaders to escalate. They forgot to install the filter in the pump and didn't find it for well over a month.

Your Project managers are not real project managers when they can't communicate activities and milestones, and your A/R department is rude and needs to actually answer phone calls.

Do not build with Shasta. Not worth the risk or the headache.

Money refund

Shasta was given 75000 dollars to do a 20,000 dollar resurfacing, new pump ,and other items. The balance was to be returned to us upon completion. That was 6 weeks ago and now the cost of the project jumped to 44,000 without any consent from us. I have been on the phone, email, and texting with no response

Two time Shasta pool built customer

Shasta is the best, most reliable pool builder in the Valley. We have had two pools built by them and their expertise in designing and even after is unsurpassed.

Our second Shasta pool was built almost 20 years ago and today we had a Rep over to update the cool deck, our plaster pool with pebble sheen is still in excellent shape...and in the hot summer, there's nothing better than swimming in a cool pool that is irridescent blue, it's like being in the Caribbean ! Thank you Shasta for building an Oasis in our backyard, for the second time.

Always a positive, helpful experience with Shasta. People...you get what you pay for !

It's now 14 months since we signed a contract with Shasta. Our pool is nowhere near completion.

They haven't even returned to fix the concrete where it was poured wrong. The only thing done was that they finally (after 4 months) cleaned up their construction messes. Cannot get the president, Jeff Ast to contact me after leaving several messages.

Before you consider Shasta, check Yelp and the BBB for comments about this company. It will open your eyes

Shasta has been working on our pool for over thirteen months. They have deceived us, lied to us and have left construction debris in our yard, on the side of our house as well as on the street in front of our house since construction started. The pumps leak, they installed the concrete stairs, Baja deck, therapy jets and seating area concrete incorrectly and now need to perform major concrete work to fix the problem. Customer service is HORRIBLE

LED Pool light misinformation

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We bought a Shasta pool back in 2010. It was supposed to be ready the day that our new construction home was ready, but some miscommunications inside their organization caused several weeks of delays. They actually comped us for it after we told Shea Homes that they should look to find another pool partner. We have had to replace some expensive parts to our system over the years, but we bought an extended warranty, which helped with the cost. I usually pass on extended warranties (like with cars and appliances) but I am glad we did it with this pool. The part that irks me today is that I had to replace the pool light early on in the life of the pool and it was really expensive (I can't remember exactly now, but probably around $700). About a year later, I was having to replace it again although it had barely been used. I was told that if I bought an LED conversion that the cost of replacing future lights would be cheaper. I did that conversion to LED back in 2015 and the light lasted about 3 years (with very little use). Today I called to see about getting it replaced and learned that I have to buy the whole kit again because I have a "spa light" versus a "pool light". They want another $700+ for the light (and labor is additional). I told the customer service person what I had been told in the past and that I converted to LED based on their story. Well, it seems that they don't really care that they got me to do something based on false information. I have lost trust in them at this point and will have to figure out another way to light my pool on those rare occasions. Hopefully this helps some other poor chump out there from getting similar treatment.

Awful - just awful

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

NO NO NO AND NO.

Do not use Shasta Pools. I'd give them zero stars if I could.

We are having so many issues with them.

From the very minute my travertine deck and patio were installed we told them it was installed incorrectly. They wouldn't listen and insisted it was correct. At this same time we contacted our sales person to complain that the wrong color of travertine was installed - again they insisted it was correct. So now here we are six months later with decking that is falling apart and we have to suffer through the inconvenience of having it reinstalled - not to mention taking time off work (money out of our pockets) They are still insisting that the travertine is the correct color - which it is not - we've even had the supplier tell us it is not the color we selected.

At this point we have offered to pay for all new materials. Even with that they want to charge us half the labor to remove and install since the patio pavers are "stable". Seriously..........do not use Shasta.

I can however highly recommend California pools. California pools built our first pool back in 1997 and also remodeled the same pool 5 years ago.

They are awesome to work with.

They truly care about their customers and customer satisfaction is their main goal. Unlike Shasta who only cares about money........

They never built our pool

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In the early Fall of 2018 we started talking to Shasta Industries about putting a small pool and fire pit in the backyard of our home in Scottsdale, AZ. We finally agreed to a contract on November 9, 2018. Four days later, we selected the pool colors and on December 11, the layout plan was completed. It took another four weeks to get the final plans that were submitted to our homeowners association. The HOA approved the plans on January 17, 2019.

After that date, I tried numerous times to get Shasta to give me a construction start date. After three frustrating weeks with no start date, I wrote the President of Shasta Industries on February 8. I received no reply.

On February 12, I received an email from Shasta indicating that construction would start the week of February 18 or, at the latest, the following week. On February 14, I met with Shasta and they asked me to again approve the plan including color selections. On February 23, I received a text from Shasta indicating construction could start the week of the 25th.

Needless to say, construction did not start and I never received a date when it would. Five months after initial talks and I never received an idea when, or if, construction would start. After yet another heated conversation with Shasta, I was asked if I would like to get out of the contract. I agreed and the deposit of $500 was refunded a month later.

My relationship with Shasta from the very beginning was a series of miscommunications, mistakes, and a lack of a sense of urgency. I subsequently contacted another pool company and they started construction less than three weeks later and have made steady progress since.

I don’t know the reasons behind their inability to start construction. I could not under any circumstances recommend Shasta Industries for anyone looking to build a pool. “The Shasta Experience” they tout on their web site was not a good one.

Where do I begin?!? Salesman, liar and empty promises. He has since been fired hmmm I wonder why their quality lacks when they have such a huge turn over?!? Our pool is 9” longer on each end to begin with. We were told construction would begin on a specific day and was nearly 2 weeks later until it began. The entire process was a nightmare! Too much to explain. I got a call from the CEO Skip, who just apologized repeatedly yet never offered or asked what he could do to make it right or compensate . Now only a couple months later we have discovered a large crack in a step. We also have extensive issues with the lack of quality of the. Oil decking. Left a message for A call back, will see where this goes. $40,000 PLUS later. And on a side note the out there advertisement emblem logo into the cool decking withOUT asking. Like I said there is so much I can’t for in this “details area” do NOT use shasta!!!

Stay away!! I thought using a big name would have made it simple and good quality. I was going to use a subcontracting company would have been cheaper. But I fell for this BIG name. Now I’ve paid more for less. They use contractors just like everyone else, even though they say they are their own crew from start to finish. What a load of crap. We had them refinish our pool in July 2017. Their time was over promised and then when their workers didn’t show up they had no idea where they were. That’s because they were subcontracted and didn’t report the Shasta. They broke our pool light, broke our automatic leveler, and shut off the water to all our drip system in the entire house. Killed our plays and trees because we didn’t realize it until 3 months later. Then when they were ready to do the startup after filling it. Their guy dumps all the acid in one spot and ruins the bottom of the pool. It is now 2-17-18. And yes I’ve waited this long to complain but I’m done and wanted everyone to know about this company. They still have not fixed my pool and I’m sure it will never match. It also has very rough spots on the ground from where the acid are through the new interior. If this is real you should know
